Lloyd M. Mustin II

Lloyd is a seasoned leader, creative problem solver, business executive and entrepreneur. He has a BS in Business from the University of Richmond and a MS in Finance from The Johns Hopkins University.  Lloyd began his career in the US Navy aboard USS William V. Pratt (DDG-44), where he qualified as a Surface Warfare Officer. Upon leaving active duty, he founded XLA, Inc. (XLA), an international advisory and services company in 1989.

XLA garnered key industry recognition for rapid growth & outstanding performance including: Washington Business Journal 50 Fastest Growing Companies, Inc. Magazine Fastest Growing Companies in America, The Virginia Chamber of Commerce Fantastic 50, Smart CEO Future 50, Smart CEO Government Star Workplace, Association for Corporate Growth Emerging Growth Company, Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce & Professional Services Council Government Contractor (GOVCON) Contractor of the Year.

In 2011, Lloyd partnered with The Halifax Group to acquire a majority interest in XLA. The company grew to 750 employees serving in over 40 countries. Lloyd remained as XLA's CEO until 2016 and currently serves as the Chairman of its Board of Directors.
 
In 2017 XLA was recognized in USA Today as one of the Top 25 Places in the U.S. for Women to Work AND as a Top 25 U.S. Company for Diversity. These latest honors reflect the leadership principles Lloyd set when he founded the company that remain a priority today.

Lloyd retired from the US Navy at the rank of Captain (O-6). His final assignment was Commanding Officer for the Office of the Secretary of Defense’s Homeland Defense and America’s Security Affairs Directorate. 
He and his wife Tracy enjoying volunteering in the community, adventurous traveling and spending time with family and their 6 grandchildren.
