Volunteer Position description – Program Leader
Position Aim: The Program Leader provides support by overseeing activities and managing volunteers and athletes during KEEN programs
Key Responsibility Areas:
- Set up materials needed for programs, including sports equipment, musical instruments, snacks and water
- Hand out athlete profiles to volunteer coaches – answer any questions a coach may have and if necessary provide tips or suggestions for working with their assigned athlete
- Provide support to coach during any challenging situation that may arise – difficult behavior, bathroom visits, etc
- Provide suggestions for activities when needed
- Organize group activities such as the parachute, duck duck goose, etc.
- Lead “prouds” and dancing at the end of the program
- Remind coaches to stay with their athletes until they have been released to their caregiver
- Collect any profiles that have not been returned
- Engage with returning volunteers who might be candidate for the coaches committee
- Take inventory of equipment – throwing away anything that is broken, inflating balls as needed
- Over see clean up and storage of all equipment at the end of the program
- Recruit volunteers to help clean up and put away equipment at the end of the session.
Requested Time Commitment:
Time commitment depends on the program and location
1-4 hours/ 2 times a month on weekends.
